Second half goals from Matt Antcliff and James Burgess gave The Miners victory against neighbours Albion Sports to make it six league games unbeaten.

Things could've gone very differently however had the visitors, who were the best side first half, put away their chances.

Jamie Hassall replaced the suspended Toby Wells in goal, Lee Turner and Matt Antcliff filled in as fullbacks to replace the unavailable Sam Leach and injured Alex Zachariou. Promising defensive player Dexter Ball donned the number eleven jersey in Antcliff's place. On the bench there was a welcome return from injury for fullback Daniel Omosebi.

There was an early let-off for Garforth on nine minutes when Awais Khan's cross found former Town striker Hass Gorji unmarked in the box, but he uncharacteristicly blazed his shot over the crossbar. A minute later Sam Barker found the net with a rare headed 'goal' from captain Dan Coupland's free-kick, but the offside flag was raised.

With The Miners struggling to get their attacking game going, there followed a couple more good chances for Albion who were causing us problems down the flanks. There was another chance on 31 mins when the dangerous Khan made his way in from the right, but opted to find a teammate when shooting looked the better option, and Town managed to clear. Hassall made a good save shortly after when Khan found himself clear when played through by Sumaili Cissa.

There were a couple of openings for The Miners as half time loomed. Charlie Marshall almost put us ahead in spectacular style with a volley which Albion 'keeper George McMahon did well to keep out, then a Matt Antcliff effort was just over the crossbar after some good play from Marshall's throw-in.

It took just four second half minutes for Garforth to take the lead. Nick Thompson's wind-assisted cross-cum-shot caught out McMahon and came off the far post to an awaiting Antcliff who tapped home for his second goal for the club.

On 55 mins Khan almost grabbed a quick equalizer; his diving header from Tabish Hussain's free-kick going just over the bar.

A minute later however our lead was doubled when Barker won the ball from a defender and crossed in to James Burgess to find the net from close range. It was a lead that never really looked in jeopardy as the Albion challenge faded. On 75 mins there were handbags after Thompson and Robbie Fox clashed when sliding in for the ball, resulting in bookings for Sam Denton, Fox and Aaron Basi.

There was a promising opening six minutes from time when Marshall was played in down the right, but his pass to Burgess was just in front of him. With no further chances for either side, Town managed to see out the game and register a fourth successive win over our neighbours.

Paul Marshall's side are in League Cup action on Tuesday when Brigg Town are the visitors (kick-off 7:45pm).
