Garforth Town 0 Worksop Town 1

Ross Shelton was again called into defence to cover the injured Simon Rogers, however Tim Robertson was back in the starting line-up, as was Sinmi Oyebanji. Thomas Smith made his first start in a Town shirt and Nathan Perks was amongst those lined up on the bench.

Phil Roe almost put the visitors ahead as early as the 2nd minute but couldn't get on the end of James Cottingham's cross after good play down the right.

Similarly two mins later a good delivery from Luke Mangham almost found Curtly Martin-Wyatt in the box but the ball fizzed just in front of him.

Adam Ward had a glorious chance to put his side ahead on 9 mins when put through in space, the striker managed to round Ben Hunter but was denied by a great block by Tim Robertson. On 21 mins Ward's cross eventually found Roe on the edge of the box who's powerful shot was blocked on the line by Hunter. Shortly after Town's number 1 made another great stop to deny Tom Elliott.

It had been the Nottinghamshire side creating most of the chances, with an organised Garforth on the defensive. On 32 mins Sinmi Oyebanji was denied by a block from Worksop keeper Jonathan Kennedy after beating the last defender. Town did start to make headway going forward in the last ten minutes of the half but without any clear-cut chances being created.

Two mins into the second half The Tigers thought they had the lead when Ward found space in the box to finish in the top corner but the offside flag was raised. Down at the other end Mangham was denied by a defensive block on 53 mins after an excellent run and cross in by Martin-Wyatt.

Mitch Husbands probably should've done better on 59 mins when Ward found him in space on the left side of the box, his shot was taken early but lacked power and Hunter was able to gather. Three mins later Robertson tried his luck from distance from long range but Kennedy was equal to it.

On 76 mins Ross Shelton intervened with a last ditch challenge to deny Ward, but six mins later Garforth's resistance was finally broken. A Worksop foray down the right ended in Elliott being released in the box to fire into the top corner, his side's first ever goal in open play against us.

Sadly in contrast to at the Windsor Foodservices Stadium back in February there was to be no late equalizer, although Oyebanji came close in injury time from Andy Hawksworth's delivery to the far post, shooting wide from a narrow angle. It was a battling display from the Miners in what were difficult conditions for both sides, but not enough to deny the promotion-chasers the points.
