Mist opportunity

Thackley turned up at the JS White & Co Community Stadium determined to wrestle back the three points they felt they'd already earned back in October when fog forced an abandonment as they were coasting to victory.

In form striker Curtly Martin-Wyatt dented their hopes on twenty minutes when he ruthlessly rifled a shot past Dayle Coleing after being teed up by Tim Robertson. Martin-Wyatt had twice earlier threatened to break the deadlock, but was denied by a last-ditch tackle and then saw an audacious attempt land on top of the net.

Thackley had their own hard-to-handle number nine in the form of Andrew Wood and he soon restored parity when he prodded in at the near post eight minutes later.
His second goal came soon after and with a little good fortune. Mick Jones attempt to scramble a Thackley attack clear, hit the on-rushing forward and bobbled over the line.

The 'Dennyboys' lead didn't last long though. Curtly finished well again after slick build up work from Jordan Outerbridge.
Outerbridge turned scorer after the break, but Coleing will be furious with himself for allowing the ball to escape his grasp.

Garforth were once again undone, this time Thomas Dugdale was allowed to tap in a long free-kick into the box and as if this wasn't enough value for money, the drama had just begun!

A woeful effort by Joe Brown let Garforth off the hook before Martin-Wyatt was taken down on the edge of the Thackley box as he was about to pull the trigger. Craig Bentham was probably spared his marching orders as the last defender because team-mate Kristian Hargreaves was in close proximity. A clever free-kick from Simi Oyebanji nicked the upright.

Martin-Wyatt was at the centre of another red card controversy when he appeared to wipe out Coleing as they raced into a challenge. On closer inspection, the referee made a good call, as the striker looked like he'd tried to pull out of the collision at the last moment.

The stadium was plunged into darkness with ten minutes remaining when a power cut in East Leeds knocked out the floodlights. Surely the game couldn't be cursed again?

After a fifteen minute “interval” normal service was resumed.
With time ebbing away and with chances continuing to be created at both ends, it was the visitors that provided the clinical finish. Dugdale the quickest to react again and earn his team a hard fought win.
