Suspended duo Simon Poole and Luke Kitson supported from the stands as Garforth laid to rest memories of the drubbing at Liversedge earlier in the season. It's important to note (and pleasing) that this squad is virtually the same as the one that featured in that game.
Both teams were up for it from the start, but despite a fast-paced opening, there were no goals to show for their first-half efforts.
Liversedges' Brandon Kane will have had a sleepless night thinking about his close-range miss just after the break, but other than that, the visitors found it tough to break down a resolute and dogged Town back four (and the commanding Paul Hagreen) that have been the key to much of Garforths' improved form.
Lee Turner came close with a volley for Garforth, before being replaced by Sean Hunter.
An even game was swung Towns' way when substitute Hunter made an immediate scoring impact on 71 minutes, being in the right place to put away a loose ball in the six yard box. Moments earlier, his cross was bizarrely almost chested over "Sedge" keeper Sam Andrews by Simpson. The keeper showing good reactions to tip the ball over.
Garforth held firm and the roof was raised when Simpson set a record of scoring in nine consecutive games with the last kick of the match, dinking his free-kick inside Andrews' near post.
