On Saturday Garstang welcomed down their Sponsors and Supporters and they were entertained to a try-fest in sweltering conditions.
After an opening day defeat the team were under some pressure to perform and they duly delivered with a scintillating performance.
The tone was set from the first minutes when Garstang went straight on the attack. They forced a line out five metres out and from the set move Ryan Wilkinson crashed over on the short side (5-0).
The waves of attack kept on coming and on the ten minute mark the ball was worked out wide to Will Bisby who slid over in the corner (10-0).
Soon afterwards another break put Garstang on the front foot and this time it was Joel Dugdale who cashed in to score the third. The weather may have been glorious but there was a stiff breeze blowing across the pitch and this hampered the conversion attempts as Kieran Davies missed another conversion attempt (15-0).
On the half hour mark Gavin Barton got in on the act as he spotted a gap and went over to get the fourth try which secured the try scoring bonus point (20-0).
With the half drawing to a close Garstang got sloppy and let New Brighton right back into the match. Firstly, a kick was charged down by the visitors which enabled them to score in the corner and they worked a try of their own as they shrugged off some average defence by Garstang and went over in the opposite corner (20-10).
Those scores acted as a wake-up call for the team and they came out at the start of the second half with all guns blazing. Kieran Davies knocked over a penalty to extend the lead to 23-10 before he went on a mazy run and went over for a try under the posts which he also converted. With the lead now back at twenty points the nerves were settled and Garstang started to play with a lot more fluency.
Next up Ben Kelsall made a searing run to score another in the corner to put Garstang out of sight at 35-10. Further tries followed for Adam Nickson, Greg Billington and Freddie Hewitt as the fifty point mark was passed (52-10).
With time almost up New Brighton added a consolation try but it was all too late as Garstang secured the five points in a 52-15 win.
