Garswood Stags stage come back to beat Liverpool Lions 34-28 after trailing 18-6.

The Garswood Stags celebrated their fourth league win from five at the weekend making a come back from being 6-18 down to beat the Liverpool Lions 34-28.
The Stags took the lead after thirteen minutes with a try from number two, Jonathan McMillan, converted by number seven, Daniel Chisnall, but the next ten minutes saw three very quick tries with successful conversions from the Liverpool Lions, taking the score line to 6-18 after twenty four minutes of play. In the last minute of the first half The Stags number five, Jonny Fairclough went over with his first try of the season, successfully converted by Chisnall and the half time score stood at 12-18.
The Stags came out with all guns blazing in the second half and by the end of the third quarter The Stags had taken the lead, 24-18. A great try from number fourteen, Andy Crompton, his second of the season, was also followed by a successful conversion by Chisnall who also kicked a penalty. Club Captain, Danny Gibbons (pictured) played after being out injured for a number of games and scored his first try of the season and what was to be his first of two tries in the game, scoring a second one in the last five minutes of the game. The Stags number nine, Craig Johnson also went over and with just three minutes to go the score line was Garswood Stags 34, Liverpool Lions, 22. A great interception from a young Lions player in the last minute of the game with an almost full length run of the pitch and a successful conversion followed to bring the final score to Garswood Stags 34, Liverpool Lions, 28.
The Lions Man of the Match, as chosen by the Stags management committee was number one, Aaron Smith. The Garswood Stags Man of the Match chosen by The Lions team was number nine, Craig Johnson. The Stags Man of the Match, chosen by his fellow team mates was number two, Jonathan McMillan.
Speaking after the game, Garswood stags Chairman, Mark Ward said "What a great afternoon for the lads, I am delighted for them. To come back from twelve points down against a very good team from Liverpool and win by six took great determination and effort".
