The Garswood Stags league winning streak of three in a row came to an abrupt end against a big pack from the Haresfinch A team on Saturday (24th May). The Stags were beaten 40 - 6 on a very wet and windy Saturday afternoon at home. In what was a very tough game The Stags could not break through the Haresfinch defence line despite spending a huge amount of time in their territory.
The Stags were 24 - 0 down at half time and only managed a 76th minute try and conversion taking the final score line to 40 - 6.
Commenting after the game, chairman Mark Ward (pictured) said "A very disappointing game for us, the team played as best they could in difficult conditions against a great pack from Haresfinch". Mark went on to say "Although we didn't win this is the first league game the lads have lost and I am very proud of the fact that everyone of them tried their absolute best, we still stand at second in the NWML entry division table with five games in hand over Bury Broncos A who are first". The Garswood Stags Man of the Match, as chosen by the players was Joe Bennett.
The next league game for The Garswood Stags is on Saturday 31st May, at home (Broadway, West Park, St Helens) against Liverpool Lions, kick off at 2.30pm.
