Geddington 1st XI made a brilliant start to the season, with victory by 33 runs against Finedon Dolben 1st XI at Geddington Cricket Club on Saturday.
Geddington batted first and made 214-7 off their 40 overs, Ricardo Vasconcelos (66 off 69 balls) top-scored with a half-century, Jack Parker (40), Luke Thomas (32), George Parker (20 off 16 balls) and Ben Silver (16* off 9 balls), including two sixes with the last two balls of the innings, all made contributions with the bat for the home side, Vasconcelos and J Parker put on 80 for the 3rd wicket partnership, the highest wicket partnership of the innings. Ed Hodgson (8-0-26-5) was the main performer with the ball by taking five wickets for Finedon Dolben, Jonathon Clarke (1-36) and Chris Todd (1-46) also took a wicket each for the visitors.
In reply, Finedon Dolben were 45-6 early on in their innings, with Adil Arif (8-4-22-3) taking three wickets with the ball for Geddington and Thomas (8-1-25-2) also taking two wickets in an brilliant opening bowling spell by the two players, Todd (51*) top-scored with an unbeaten half-century and Tom Brett (45) got the visitors up to their final score of 181-8 off their 40 overs, with Todd and Brett putting on 96 for the 7th wicket partnership. J Parker (1-37) also took a wicket for the home side, there was also two run-outs in the field for the hosts from Silver and G Parker.
