Luke Thomas was the star performer with the bat, scoring his maiden century for Geddington 1st XI in their 13 runs victory on the DLS Method against Brixworth 1st XI at Geddington Cricket Club on Saturday, this victory means that Geddington go top of the Premier Division table and also qualify for the knockout stages of the Premier Division Play-offs.
Thomas scored 119 off 126 balls with the bat, in an innings which included 10 fours and 3 sixes for Geddington, as they batted first and made 196-5 off their 40 overs, Andrew Reynoldson (37) and Joshua Knight (19) were also in the runs for the home side, Thomas and Reynoldson put on 82 for the 3rd wicket partnership, after Thomas and Knight had put on 74 for the 2nd wicket. Alex Lacey (7-0-37-4) was the pick of the Brixworth bowlers with four wickets, there was also a wicket for Luke Evans (6-1-20-1) for the visitors.
In reply, rain had interrupted the start of the Brixworth innings, and the visitors innings was reduced to 25 overs when they restarted the match, and then they needed a target of 146 to win the game on the DLS Method, in the end the away side finished on 132-9 off their 25 overs, Archie Houghton (39), Harry Gouldstone (34) and Henry Timm (27) were the main run-scorers with the bat. Thomas (5-1-17-2), George Parker (5-0-25-2) and Chris Murdoch (5-0-31-2) all took two wickets each with the ball for Geddington, there was also a wicket each for Reynoldson (1-4) and Adil Arif (1-24) for the home side, the other wicket to fall was Run-out for Reynoldson.
