Geddington 2nd Team kicked off the 2016 Northamptonshire Cricket League Division 4 season with an opening day defeat by 43 runs against Wellingborough Town 2nd Team at Redwell Road.
Joseph Witney (6-40) was the star performer with the ball for Wellingborough Town as he took six wickets as Geddington were All Out for 134 in 36.4 overs. William Farrar (2-33) also took two wickets for the hosts. Mark Pearson (34) top-scored with the bat for the visitors, David Goodjohn (28) was also in the runs.
Earlier, Wellingborough Town made 177-8 off their 50 overs, Ryan Lovell (57) top-scored for the home side with a half-century, Farrar (31*), Lewis Kain (26) and Tony Walker (25) were also in the runs. Brandon Holmes (4-56) was the pick of the Geddington bowlers with four wickets, Pearson (2-30) also picked up two wickets for the visitors.
