An unbeaten half-century from Adam Pearson guided Geddington 3rd XI to a thrilling 1 wicket win against Great Houghton 2nd XI, at Kettering Buccleuch Academy on Saturday, in the Northamptonshire Cricket League Division 8 KO Cup Quarter-Final.
A Pearson (51* off 41 balls) top-scored with the bat for Geddington, in an innings which included 5 fours and 4 sixes, guided the home side to their victory target with just 1 wicket to spare in the 37th over, Harry Bolton (27), Mark Pearson (25) and Ben McDade (20) were the other main run-scorers for the hosts. Matthew Afford (8-4-12-3) was the pick of the Great Houghton bowlers with three wickets, Mike Sawle (2-29) took two wickets, there was also a wicket each for Charles Langley (1-17), Mo Chowdhary (1-19) and Pranjal Gupta (1-25) for the visitors.
Earlier, Great Houghton batted first and made 142-9 off their 40 overs, Alex Osborn (40) and Robert Hart (40) both top-scored with the bat for the visitors, Gupta (25) and Harry Crisp (17) were also the other main run-scorers. Archie Colwill (8-2-17-4) was the pick of the Geddington bowlers with four wickets, Brando Biddle (3-42) took three wickets, there was also a wicket each for Brooklyn Biddle (1-13) and Bolton (1-24) for the home side.
After Saturday's Quarter-Final win, Geddington 3rd XI will now play Haddon 2nd XI away in the Northamptonshire Cricket League Division 8 KO Cup Semi-Final, this coming Saturday 11th September 2021 with a 12:00noon Start.
