Geddington 1st XI started their 2019 cricket season with a 3 wicket win against Leicestershire Premier-Division side Barkby United at Barkby United in a Pre-Season Friendly on Saturday.
An unbeaten century from debutant Jack Parker (104* off 95 balls) in an innings which included 12 fours and 4 sixes guided Geddington to victory with 23 balls to spare, the visitors were 167-3 before they were reduced to 181-7, chasing 246 to win, but an unbeaten 65 partnership for the 8th wicket between J Parker and Sam Smith (24*) guided them to the win, Chris Harrison (36), Andrew Reynoldson (36) and Adil Arif (21) were all in the runs with the bat. Jamie Drake (3-36) took three wickets with the ball for Barkby United, there was also two wickets for Callum Smith (2-53) and one each for Aiden Morris (1-19) and Ben Hollis (1-32) for the home side.
Earlier, Barkby United made 245-9 off their 50 overs, David Tew (52) top-scored with a half-century, Martin Troop (48), Ben Silver (40), Steve Flowers (26) and Hollis (22) all contributed with the bat for the home side, Cameron Braans (10-2-25-4) took four wickets with the ball for Geddington, Al Mahmud Hasan (2-33) on his debut took two wickets and there was also a wicket each for Colin Griggs (1-20), Smith (1-28) and J Parker (1-32) for the visitors.
