Gedling looking to maintain form against the Red Badgers

Eastwood Community are the latest visitors to Plains Road on Tuesday night (11th December) to face Gedling Miners Welfare in the East Midlands Counties League, 7.45pm kick off.

They make the short journey to Mapperley in fine form and have only lost once in their last 12 games in all competitions. They hope their latest result, a 2-1 home defeat to title contenders Newark Flowserve at the weekend, was a mere blip as they look to continue their excellent run that has seen them rise to 5th in the latest standings.

Looking to compete for a second successive promotion this season, they can also focus on challenging for 3 cup competitions after they recently secured progress in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup, League Cup and, most impressively, the FA Vase where they will face Deeping Rangers of the United Counties League in the 4th round in early January.

Gedling host their city neighbours in a revitalised mood having won 2 games in a week following Saturday’s 3-1 win at Graham Street Prims.

Impressive performances of late has seen them pull away from relegation danger and close the gap between Teversal above them who face Arnold Town on Saturday as they finally look for stability throughout and up and down campaign.

They booked their place in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup quarter finals with a fine 3-2 win at home to Central Midlands League outfit Collingham at Plains Road last Tuesday, and with Eastwood potential opposition in the last 8, they will want to maintain their upturn in fortune and form with a win against the Red Badgers.

Striker Jack Jepson comes into this one in fine form and will look to continue his run after surging into the top 15 of the EMCL’s leading goalscorer charts after notching a 4th in his last 3 games on Saturday taking his personal tally to 13 in 17 outings this season.

Community, now managed by former Gedling midfielder Dave Marlow, will be looking to call upon their promising talisman, teenager Kieran Knight, who can boast an impressive 9 goals in 16 appearances this season since making his name in the academy and U21’s as the striker continues to be touted as a future professional in the game.

Gedling will be out for retribution after their 3-1 loss at Eastwood back in August. Jepson put his side in an early lead but goals from Kaylum Mitchell and a brace from Chay Betteridge gave the home team all 3 points in only their 2nd league game at this level.

As always your support is always appreciated and very welcome.
