The first opening of the game fell to the hosts, Josh Thornton whipped in a corner from the left which found the unmarked Courtney Hastings but his header from 8 yards flew over the crossbar.
However, with Southwell’s first effort on target after 31 minutes they grabbed the lead. After a long ball was sent into the Gedling area the ball bounced between 2 defenders and the visitors forward poked the ball past Louis Richardson from 6 yards.
With the final action of the half Gedling levelled, Jamie Lloyd won the ball off the Southwell midfielder and the ball fell to Hastings on the left and he drove into the area and crossed for Tyrell Shannon-Lewis who slotted the ball into the net from 4 yards and the teams went in level at the break.
The 2nd half was very tightly contested with no keeper asked to do much as it took till the 76th minute for the first chance of the half, Sean Woolley did well to beat a challenge and he hit a fierce effort from 20 yards that the Southwell keeper did well to keep hold of.
But on 88 minutes the miners snatched all 3 points, Kieran Harrison set up for a free kick from 20 yards which the visitors expected him to shoot but instead he passed to Hastings who drove a left footed effort from q8 yards into the bottom left corner to give Gedling a 2-1 victory and to give the hosts a first league win since 27th September.
