Gedling MWFC 2 - 6 Aylestone Park FC

Ruthless Aylestone beat Gedling in a controversial game

The hosts started the game brightly pinning the visitors back in their own half but on 5 minutes the league leaders were awarded a penalty, Scott Miles fumbled a shot which fell to Tendai Daire who was fouled by Josh Stevenson and Matthew Langham converted his 20th of the season and the visitors took the lead
This didn’t stop Gedling creating chances as on 13 minutes Courtney Hastings latched onto a loose ball and he drove to the edge of the area before hitting a right footed effort at the visitor's keeper.
Aylestone, who have scored the 4th most goals in steep 6 across England certainly showed why as on 20 minutes they had breathing space, a long ball was poorly delt with by the Miners backline which allowed Aaron Preston to smash the ball past Miles from 10 yards out.
With 30 minutes gone Aylestone extended their lead Louis Samuels whipped in a pinpoint cross from the corner of the area which found Daire who headed home from 4 yards out and the league leaders went in 3-0 up at half time.
However, Gedling came out fighting and were unlucky not to pull one back after 53 minutes, Jack Jepson found some room on the edge of the box but his effort hit the post.
Jepson had another chance 3 minutes later, Hastings whipped in a great cross which Gedling’s number 9 fired just over from a powerful bicycle kick.
Ruben Wiggins-Thomas was next to try his luck as he hit a powerful effort from 18 yards out that Josh Wormleighton tipped around the post.
But on 74 minutes the hosts deservedly got a goal back, Ross McCaughey whipped in a superb corner from the right which Hastings headed home from 10 yards out. Just 2 minutes later the miners were right back in it, Sol Miller did well down the right to beat his man and whip in a cross which Jahren Barrow headed home from 8 yards out to reduce the score to 3-2 But on 81 minutes the visitors restored their 2-goal advantage but it wasn’t without controversy, Jepson had a head injury and the hosts expected play to be stopped but Samuels played on and scored and the hosts were left fuming at the decision which resulted in Josh Stevenson being sin binned for the last 10 minutes.
The table toppers made the most of this as Daire scored from the right of the area on 84 minutes to make it 5-2 and he completed his hat-trick from the spot after being taken down by Adrian Hawes but it looked soft and the visitors walked away with a 6-2 win
