The game started really competitively with both sides finding each other out but on the 24th minute the hosts first shot on target saw them take the lead. Jake Brown cut inside of Sol Miller and hit an effort into the bottom right corner from 18 yards out.
Just 4 minutes later Bourne doubled their advantage, Robbie Ellis drifted into the penalty area from a free kick and he headed home from 6 yards.Gedling responded well and on 30 minutes they had their first meaningful effort on goal, Lewis Durow and Paolo Piliero combined well on the left and Piliero whipped in a cross which found the head of Jack Jepson but the Gedling forward headed wide from 8 yards out.
On 40 minutes Gedling had another chance to half the score, Tyrell Shannon-Lewis did well to win the ball back and he burst into the area but scuffed an effort wide of the right-hand post. Bourne, who had won their previous 4 league games made the visitors pay for missed chances as on the 44th minute they went 3 up. The miners midfield fell asleep allowing a driving run through the heart of the visitors and the ball was played to the wakes top scorer James Seekings who hit an effort into the bottom left corner for his 13th of the season and the hosts went into the break leading 3-0 On 53 minutes the miners had their best chance to grab a goal back, Ross McCaughey hit a superb effort from 30 yards that crashed the crossbar but Jepson fired the rebound wide from 6 yards with the goal gaping.
On the 72nd minute the hosts were out of sight, Jake Sansby burst through and rounded the onrushing Louis Richardson and slotted the ball into the net from 8 yards. On 75 minutes Durow was sent off on his debut for allegedly slapping Seekings in the face who only saw yellow for his part, Kieran Harrison was also sin binned and Gedling were down to 9 men for 10 minutes
Bourne made this count as on 79 minutes it was 5-0, Brown grabbed his 2nd of the night after tapping in a cross from 2 yards and on 91 minutes the scoring was complete after Thomas Edwards hit a sweet side footed volley into the top left corner from 10 yards and the game
ended 6-0 to the hosts.
