Miners lose out to smash and grab Ellistown

Very little to write about in the first half in which virtually nothing happened.

All the “action” came in the second period as the Leicestershire team came alive half way through when they awoke from their slumber and made a rare excursion into the Gedling half. Tricky winger Ross McGarry pounce on a loose ball to fire home past Miles for the game’s opening goal.

‘Rak’ Reid and visiting full back Rikki Saxby were having a right old ding-dong down the right flank and, for the umpteenth time, the latter bought down his adversary just inside the box.

Jordan Whitehead stepped up to level from the spot.

A draw looked odds on as the game entered the final few minutes and the visitors duly won the contest with a fine strike from Lewis Dunkley.

A game to forget for Gedling whose approach play at times was very good but with no resulting end product.
