Miners come away with nothing

Anstey Nomads..........4 (Taylor 8 and 32, York 27, Gibbs 55)
Gedling MW .............1 (Armstrong 5)

Gedling made the short trip down the A46 to meet with an Anstey side buoyant after taking 9 points from their last 3 games and scoring 11 goals in the process. This good run of form has them sitting just outside the leading pack.

Gedling were without the injured Carl Najuk, John Read, Tom Watson and the unavailable Chris Peet , Nigel Amofa and Danny Pass. So into the side came Rhys Watkinson, Nick Morgan, Richard Saxton, Alex Clarson and Gareth Ellis.

It was Luke Armstrong who opened the scoring in the 5th minute after a Anstey mix up at the back which allowed Armstrong to poke his foot in and prod the ball into an open net from 18 yards. This lead didn’t last long with some 2 minutes later and Anstey were level, as the sun was getting lower in the sky and directly into the back lines eyes the Gedling defence gifted the Anstey forward line with an equaliser. A ball played from right to left along the back line was intercepted by a grateful Craig Lynch who squared the ball to the impressive Darren Taylor to score. Wes York then added a second on 27 as confusion reigned amongst the Gedling rear-guard and a third from the penalty spot after Nick Morgan challenged in the box after a magical run from York, and converted by Taylor. HT 3-1

Only one goal in the second half and that fell again to the Nomads after a slick movement down the left led to a deep cross into the area by Shane Gibbs. This cross, however sailed over the head of 'keeper Rhys Watkinson and into the net.

Gedling are playing better game by game and there are shoots of recovery, Manager Andy Muldoon has not been helped by a growing injury list resulting in players having to play out of position in a best fit role. Hopefully once he has the luxury of picking his best side the results will come and Gedling will start to challenge at the right end of the table. However good turn outs on a Tuesday and Thursday at training will help Andy and his team work on the areas they need to improve and that hard work has to come from all involved on the playing side of the club. FT 4-1
