Miners take maximum points in last game of season

Gedling MW…….4 (Slawson 2, Jack Hopper 64, 86, Brown 44)
Kimberley MW…..1 (J.Stevenson 84)

A stroll in the sun bought deserved reward for a Miners side that dominated from the first whistle.

As early as the 2nd minute the visitors were a goal to the good. Anthony Brown was dumped on his backside some 20 yards from goal. A little deliberation took place before Mitch Slawson curled a beauty directly over Daykin into the top corner for the lead. The hosts replied with fine efforts from Henry Sibenge and Josh Stevenson's header was mightily close. The lead was doubled a minute before the break. A Ben Smith free kick was hoisted into the area and Gizz Brett headed on for Brown to slide home his sides second.

A more determined Kimberley outfit came out fo the second half and it showed as first Elliot King hit the Gedling bar and Rod Maveso had to clear a goal bound shot from Jermaine Gordon off the line.

Jack Hopper then increased the lead as he raced onto a Slawson pass and beat Daykin at his far post.Various chances for both sides came and went before home skipper Stevenson tapped in on 84 from a right wing cross to reduce the arrears.

Hopper then completed the rout with a fine shot four minutes before the end after smart build up play involving Brown and Tony Law.

A fine win to round off the season in what was a fine team effort.

A mention of the Referee ~ although he appeared to be being assessed, his overall contribution to the game was, at times, farcical. Odd decisions, six bookings and a complete mis-understanding of the game of football in a very clean game left most observers baffled. One of the worst displays I've had the misfortune to witness for many a day.
