Another away trip awaits us on Saturday with a visit to Ashford in Kent!

Glebe made it 4 wins from 4 games this week on Tuesday as they came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at St Paul's Sports Ground against Fisher FC. The result meant Glebe returned to 1st place in the league ahead of Erith & Belvedere FC on goal difference. Jamie Philpot added another 2 goals to his impressive start to the season making it 9 goals in 5 games with Ryan King-Elliot smashing the ball home for the equaliser in between Jamie's two goals.

Assistant Manager Mark Dacey post-match reaction:

“It’s easy to say we made hard work of it but I don’t think we did. At times we just forced things that we didn’t need to do. We’ve said plenty of times this season that patience is going to work for us. We don’t need to score every attack, once we got the first one I feel like it was only ever going to be us. When a team is 2-0 up with 10 men and they don’t at any point try to attack, there’s only so long you can ride wave after wave after wave.

When you move the ball the way that we do, eventually someone is going to switch off and we have clever players who will find those gaps. If the game had finished 6-3 or 6-4, it probably would’ve made sense. We could have easily crumbled at 2-0 down but we didn’t. The players thoroughly deserved that one!

Jamie Philpot has been brilliant so far, he’s in the right place at the right time. The boys are putting it in the areas they need too for him to score. Chances & goals are coming from everywhere, if we can keep that up, defend slightly better, we’re going to be difficult to beat”

And now onto Saturday's game against Kennington!

Opposition:

The formation of Kennington Football Club dates back to before 1890. The club's rise continued at the end of 2020/21, achieving promotion to the SCEFL Premier Division by virtue of the FA's NLS restructuring at Steps 4-6 - a move which sees them grace Step 5 for the first time in its history.

Kennington have played 4 games so far in the 2021/22 SCEFL Premier Division with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss which see's them sitting 4th currently. They started the season with a 3-2 defeat to Punjab United, this has been followed by a 3-3 draw with Sheppey United and wins against Holmesdale (2-1) and Canterbury City (3-2). Kennington are through to the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup where they will face Carshalton Athletic next Saturday after victories against Horley and Little Common.
