Our first game of the season in a new league was long overdue with the previous three games cancelled for one reason or another.
As usual, after scraping a team together, we turned up at St Fagans with 12. I decided to score and that left 10 and Paul.
Eclipse won the toss and decided to bat on the warmest night of the year so far.
Both Toms opened our bowling and at the end of their 3 over spells Eclipse were 35 for no loss.
On came Howard and Riddler who both took out one each of the openers and at the end of their 3 over spells the score had risen to 77 for 2.
Matt and Mike Barnes came on and both took a bit of stick as the score pushed on to 145 - 5 after 18 overs but Mike took 2 wickets including Evans who top scored with 58.
Richie and Peter bowled an over apiece and the innings closed on 167 for 6.
Riddler and Lloyd opened our reply but we soon saw Mike back in the hutch, out 3rd ball for 4.
Lloyd and Tom W then put on a swift 63 for the 2nd wicket when Tom W was out caught for 20.
Lloyd was joined by Barnesy and they posted another 54 before Mike B was also caught out for 9. At this stage Lloyd was 74 not out and totally dominating our innings letting no bowler settle.
Matt came in and in a partnership of 48, the Sutton brothers brought us home with 22 balls to spare.
Lloyd hit 8 sixes and 10 fours in his 112 Not Out.
A good win but yet another fair game with a pleasant feel about it. The Eclipse lads will win more than they lose this year but just came up against Lloyd on song. All those years of my coaching in the garden have paid off at last !
