GNE provide the below update on the resumption of football activities.

This comes on the back of a league meeting on Tuesday night which left several matters unsolved.

A vote will take place tonight giving clubs the chance to vote on a number of options about how the current season will progress & what happens next. Followed by further discussions between the trident leagues and the FA Alliance Committee on Thursday. We expect a decision shall be made by the end of the week.

After a number of rumours, it now looks highly unlikely that our fixtures at Chasetown and Market Drayton, (scheduled for Tuesday 8th and Saturday 12th December respectively) will go ahead. This comes after HM Government’s cabinet office decision on local Tier 3 criteria not allowing spectator admission to non-elite sporting fixtures. With only 16 out of 61 clubs across the NPL’s 3 divisions not being affected by tier 3 restrictions, this is far from a fair playing field. Whilst lobbying continues in an attempt to rectify T3 criteria to allow spectator admission, there is no certainty that this can be changed, this, along with further restrictions around the sale of food and drink in T2, means that the clubs secondary matchday income could also suffer.

We will provide regular updates on the situation across our media channels over the next few days to keep all supporters aware of the situation. We would like to thank you all for your fantastic support during these unprecedented times.

Once a decision is made by fellow clubs in the league, we’re happy to answer any questions supporters and volunteers may have. Please direct questions to members of the Board if you have any concerns.
