Glossop North End search for Directors

Glossop North End AFC (The Hillmen) are on the lookout for new Directors to help the club strengthen its status as a prosperous Northern Premier League club. One of the smaller ‘fish’ in a big ‘pond’, Glossop North End has earned its place in the league due to the business efficiency of the board of Directors (the club is debt free), the quite remarkable achievements of previous Manager Chris Willcock , the current incumbent Stuart Mellish's management team and players along with greatly appreciated efforts from all our volunteers and supporters.

Director Chris Haughton said, ‘What the club has achieved over the years since gaining promotion in 2015 has been achieved even with the hardship of the South East division and the turnover of managers and the squad. It is still the ambition of the club to stay competitive at the level we are now at and we want to retain our place in the league, maybe in time to be able to push on even higher. These ambitions will not be realised without new investment into the club. The current board of directors is still low in numbers with the 5 members having to perform multiple roles across the scope of a football team and the skill sets and resources needed to compete effectively in the Northern Premier League are sparse in the quantity and quality we need. The club continues to protect its long term longevity as a priority before increasing levels of on-field expenditure in the hope of taking the club forward. Non footballing income is currently at its highest it has even been, however that in itself puts an extra work load on the board members who have to put many hours into the club outside of football, and as volunteers ourselves we get no reward other than the continued sustainability of the club. We hope that with a commercial, business minded ethos we can grow the clubs infrastructure whilst keeping the fans involved, and prosper in the years to come.’

Glossop North End is looking for individuals and/or a consortium with business acumen, contacts and resources to support the club strategically whilst assisting current board members continuing to carry out the day to day running of the club. If you are interested, in the first instance, please contact the club for further information at glossopnorthendafc@hotmail.com

Founded in 1886 Glossop North End AFC, located in the High Peak, Derbyshire, is one of the oldest football clubs in the world and formerly members of the Football League. The club competes in the Northern Premier League West Division. As a club, we have a loyal and very strong working Board of Directors and group of volunteers, most having served the club for many years. Debt free the Board is proud to ensure that the club can compete at the highest level possible within its means. We are committed to developing young talent in our region, whilst also offering volunteers the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge. Very much a family orientated club, ‘The Hillmen’ are proud to be part of the Community and provides for volunteering opportunities for local people through roles within the football club. We value our people taking personal responsibility for maintaining the organisation’s values and to “demonstrate an attitude towards others which is based on respect, dignity and equality”.
