In a fantastic move for the Hillmen, Jack Hopkins has joined GNE from Stockport County.

After training with the squad for a brief time last season, GNE have acted quickly once again and are delighted to welcome Jack Hopkins to the club.

Jack has been a product of the academy system at Stockport County since a very early age, and was awarded the 2nd year academy player's player of the season in the 19/20 season, before signing his first full time professional contract with the club later in 2020. Jack made his first-team debut as a sub in a 4-2 victory for Stockport County against Blyth Spartans in December 2019. Jack also featured for County in their 4-0 FA cup victory over Chesterfield in 2020.

Since then Jack has had his fair share of non-league experience in and around the NWCFL and Northern Premier League during loan spells with Cheadle Heath Nomads and Clitheroe amongst others.

Upon Hopkins' arrival at Glossop North End, manager Stuart Mellish said, ''Finally got Jack into the club, I nearly had him mid way through last season but Clitheroe managed to get the deal done , he’s got a great upbringing with working with really good people at Stockport County and again ticks all the boxes for me, young, massive potential with a point to prove. With me he will get the exposure he requires to achieve his personal goals''.
