English football against the proposed European Super League

In light of the proposed Football Super League for the 'Elite' few teams, Glossop are backing the comments made by pundits from all across the sport and the statement made by the former non-league team's board member Gary Neville.

In our opinion, football is for the fans! It is not there to make faceless individual groups rich, or richer, it is played for the fans enjoyment. It has been around for over one hundred and thirty years (135 in our case) and has been enjoyed by everyone who follows a team. It is not meant for the rich, prawn sandwich eating, few. It's for everyone who puts on their teams colours. It's about every fan dreaming about watching their team play at Wembley (once or twice). It's for the highs and lows.... but it's about YOU.... the fans.

This Super League is about the money men. "Big boys" football with huge debts looking for a way to get more TV and sponsorship money to line their pockets.

We at Glossop value EVERY fans who walks through the turnstile at The Amdec Forklift Stadium. Every fan is part of the non-league family and we look forward to seeing familiar and new faces each week. Yes, we have sponsorship at the club. We have a stadium name, main stand name, shirt sponsor..... but these don't fill someone's pockets.... this goes into the club so that there IS a club going forward. Just look at the teams who have gone bust in recent times. Some are now reforming lower down the pyramid, others vanish into history, but either way it is the FANS who lose out.

We encourage any supporter of these "elite six" or any supporters who want to watch a game of football knowing they are as valued as the next fan to try non-league. We don't have the big names in the squads but we don't have VAR or players rolling around either. It's not about having to remortgage your house to buy a programme, pie and a drink, it's about standing with your four legged friend, playing teams in the cup who you didn't know existed and chatting with your team's players and manager in the clubhouse after the game.

The NPL season starts on 14th Aug, and we'd love to see you at The Amdec.
Season tickets are available now, along with merchandise of your teams colours.
