Within the first 15 minutes Emley had the brighter start coming close to the
breakthrough in the 3rd minute forcing a save from Morgan Bacon, and then 7
minutes later causing a bit of trouble with a corner which eventually was cleared for a
throw-in. More Emley pressure saw a ball crossed in but another solid clearance
from Glossop.
Finally Glossop got into it as they had 2 shots on target in 2 minutes from Louis
White as he looked to drag his side up the pitch and start attacking the Emley goal.
This would remain true as they took the game by the scruff of the neck for the next
20 minutes carving out a few good chances all of which would be saved by the
Emley keeper.
Emley had a penalty shout waved away in the 36th minute as Jagger, with moves
like Mick, broke free from his man and was taken out, the referee however did not
appreciate his moves and waved away the penalty claim. Glossop came coming
down again as they'd then finish the half the stronger of the two sides White saw his
shot blocked after a mazey run and the rebound fell to Hopkins and his shot was
then blocked
After half time the lion's share of the chances came Emleys way as they had various
free kicks and corners saved, cleared or just wide as they looked to score and go
through to the next round, however not capitalising on these chances cost them
dearly.
Glossop finished the game out strongly seeing a freekick go past everyone and
cause some chaos before eventually being cleared of the line in the 80th minute, 3
minutes later however they finally got the opening goal of the game as Will Higham
rose highest to connect from a corner and score the only goal of the game.
Emley had another penalty waved away at the death and once the full time whistle
went they swarmed the referee but to no avail as the game finished up 1-0 to
Glossop North End who face Sheffield away next in the preliminary round of the FA
cup.
