Code of Conduct for Parents / Carers and Guardians
We expect Parents / Carers / Guardians to:-
- Remember – your child plays for their enjoyment not yours.
- Encourage your child to learn the laws of the game and to play within the spirit of those laws.
- Discourage unfair play and arguing/disputes with the officials/coaches.
- Help your child to recognise good performances not just results.
- Never force your child to take part in cricket.
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
- Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making a mistake.
- Always publicly accept officials’ judgements.
- Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their cricket.
- Use correct and proper language at all times.
- If you feel the need, discuss things sensibly with the Coach or Group Manager after the match.
- Encourage your child to improve their skills through coaching sessions.
- Do not forget, children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment and not yours.
- Running and maintaining the club and all its activities takes a great deal of human resources. If you can spare just a little of your time, then volunteer to do something. See the Group Manager or Coach.
Do Not
- Force your child to play.
- Yell at any player for making a mistake.
- Go onto the cricket field unless you have been authorised to do so.
- Abuse the umpire – they are volunteers. There is no game without them.
