Transportation Guidance

Transportation Guidance

Gomersal Cricket Club has fixtures at home and away and therefore it is necessary to transport young players to other cricket grounds.

It is the responsibility of the players or parents/carer/guardian of young players to organise transportation to and from matches. They may arrange lifts with other players or parents/carers/guardian of young players.

Where a player needs help with transportation to an away fixture it is their responsibility to get to Gomersal Cricket Club or an agreed venue from where a lift can be arranged.

Club coaches are not responsible for young players whilst they are on route to and from venues. However they are responsible for young players once they arrive at the venue until they have been collected following the match or training session.

Coaches should therefore aim to arrive in good time for matches and training session, or designate a volunteer to be responsible until s/he arrives. S/he should not leave the ground until the young players have been collected or released into the charge of a responsible adult following matches and training sessions.

Coaches should have contact details for all young players in his/her team so that they can make contact with parents/carers if they are late collecting their child after a match or training session. Permission should be sought if another adult offers to drop a young player home if this has not been organised between the parents/carers prior to the match or training session.

Coaches should avoid giving lifts to young players. However it is accepted that at times this is unavoidable. Lifts should only be given to young players with the consent of the parent/carer.
