With the lockdown no rugby or annual meeting
Goole RUFC will see this through
With the strength and support from people like you
Congratulations to Greg and his teams
With coaches and players all living the dreams
Fearless commitment tearing defences apart
Back in Yorkshire One what a brilliant start
The second and third teams both strutted their stuff
Playing wonderful rugby 'til they ran out of puff
For the support each week whichever team is playing
We thank you all that goes without saying
Our Mini and Juniors are the club's future
Bringing the rich talent which Goole must nurture
With thriving business all descending on Goole
There's no need to look far when they're leaving school
All will have noticed the outside bar (this was built by Andy)
Built with wood begged borrowed or stolen proving Andy is handy
The hub of the club with his handpicked team
An instant success of which visitors can only dream
Andy's millionaire raffles and catering skills
With functions and discos organised without frills
Our own business party was sheer delight
With many sore heads as we went through the night
I'm sure Goole were in for a record year
With sponsors all enjoying the chat and good beer
James and Jonty have bribed sponsors galore
With Andy's ambience they end up on the floor
Thank to Rosey for the old fart's lunches
If his ticker stays sound there'll be many more munches
Meeting friends and players from the last sixty years
With eye-watering tales and enjoyable tears
Thanks to Weed Control who look after our pitch
If it hadn't been so wet we wouldn't have a hitch
How quickly it recovered after incessant rain
And now looks resplendent we'll be playing again
Our marquee weekend is on the back burner
But will sometime take place as the club's special earner
Phil Shand has the money all tucked in the bank
To the boys on the committee we all need to thank
The club is run by an astute band of men
Who have committed themselves to all stand again
When after lockdown we open our doors
They'll be there at the club making it yours
So now I'll conclude in these most awkward of times
Sitting and wondering if all this rhymes
When the war on the virus is finally won
Let's get out there Goole Rugby and have some fun
