Goole U14s took part in their first ever sevens tournament at Pocklington on Easter Sunday. They were in a pool with West Park Leeds, Selby and Malton & Norton.

They played the excellent eventual winners West Park Leeds in their first game and suffered a heavy defeat by six tries to nil, spending most of the game chasing shadows as WPL gave demonstration of sevens rugby. Next up were Malton & Norton and Goole quickly showed they had learnt a lot in their first game as they showed more urgency and control to secure a good win by 7 tries to 3. This set up a match with Selby, the winners finishing second in the group and progressing to the semi-final. Goole were in the hunt trailing by 2 tries to 1 at half time but Selby scored 2 further unanswered tries in the second half despite continuous improvement from Goole. The Selby side would go on to finish runners up in the tournament. The players thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of the seven a side version of the game and will all be better players for the experience.
