Grantham go on the road for the final time in 2019 as they make the trip to the North West to face FC United of Manchester.

The Gingerbreads have struggled for form away from home - with their last away win in the league coming against Gainsborough Trinity on Boxing Day last year - but will be looking to end their final trip of the year on a high.

Furthermore, Paul Rawden and Russ Cousins' side will also aim to return to winning ways after falling to a 2-1 defeat at home to Morpeth Town to leave Town 17th in the table.

FC United meanwhile return to league action after claiming a scalp in the FA Trophy on Saturday, by beating Vanarama National League North side Kettering Town 2-1, all whilst challenging for a play-off place and are three points off the final position in eighth.

Tunde Owolabi is the top goalscorer in the BetVictor Northern Premier League with 14 goals to his name and has also got an impressive record in all competitions with 21 goals from 24 games and will obviously be a handful for the Grantham defence at Broadhurst Park.

Saturday's fixtures in the league are the reverse fixtures of the opening day of the season, where a late Tom Ward goal capped a fine comeback from the Gingerbreads to win 3-2, a first victory over our opponents in seven attempts.

One half of the Grantham managerial duo Rawden has challenged his players to go and end their difficult run of form on the road.

"The players owe it to the fans to go and get that win away from home" Rawden said.

"Everybody knows we have struggled to get that win and it won't be an easy task on Saturday against a side who have had some good results. We're definitely the underdog, but we need to use that to spur us on."

"The lads will go to Manchester without any fear and give it their all and hopefully give the fans an early Christmas present of three points."

The Gingerbreads are unlikely to have any new injury concerns ahead of Saturday's fixture and should have a full squad to select from.
