After a strong start to the season, Gravesend were looking to repeat their win at Cobdown and started the game to take the offensive. However, K Sports were also on the attack and despite some excellent saves from goalkeeper Sue Jones, 15 minutes in they had a 2-0 lead over Gravesend. Determined to claw back, Player-of-the-Match, Gail Petherick passed a strong ball to Debbie Hamer in the D, where it hit the back of the board in a later disallowed goal. Just on the half time whistle, Gail Petherick and Debbie Hamer repeated the move with the goal declared on the 35th minute.
2-1 down, at the beginning of the second half Captain Sharon Tams took a strong shot at goal which was denied by K Sport’s goalkeeper. This was followed by a strong short corner and another attack by Charlie Avery, which was saved again.
An unfortunate deflection from Gravesend in the D into their own goal meant going 3-1 down, which was quickly followed in short succession by 2 goals from K Sports from an attacker placed on the post putting pressure on a strong defence. Undeterred, Gravesend fought to the last whistle, taking a short corner in overtime with Gail Petherick feeding expertly to Charlie Avery who shot the ball at the right post and into the back of the goal.
