Solid Team Effort

Greenwich Borough FC 4-0 Guernsey FC

After no game last weekend, Greenwich borough return to action with an early kick off at 1pm , hosting Guernsey FC. Mo Kamara returned from an ankle injury , and the borough handed a debut to 20 year old Reece Deakin. Early on it was even Stephens with both sides creating early chances. Ryan king Elliot was causing numerous problems ,cutting in from the left hand side with a shot and cross just going past the rift post. Greenwich continued to pile on pressure and were dominant in possession. They just couldn’t find that opening. It was just before half time that the borough would take the lead through Teshaun Tyreece Walters (TT). Solomon Taiwo played a ball into Deakin who controlled the ball teed up TT who hit a rocket of a shot into the top right hand corner just outside the box. The Borough lead 1-0 at half time.
Borough started the second half as they finished the first, with Walters causing problems with his skill and pace on the right hand side. Guernsey has a spell, where they came close to equalising. Young Tom McGill pulling off a great save getting down low to palm the ball away from danger. Borough were creating chance after change but like the first half were unable to find the back of the net. Up stepped deakin who would open his account on his debut. Deakin received the ball inside the box from Laurent Mendy. Deakin took a touch then struck the ball hard and low into the back of the net to give borough a 2 goal advantage. Boroughs third goal came from a good bit of possession , again deakin was found in the box who fired who from close range. The game finished was finally wrapped up in what was litrerally the last kick off the game. Some great work from Andrew Sessay on the left hand side , drove into the box and found deakin on the 6 yard line , and he tapped home to complete his debut hat - trick.
This was boroughs 2nd win of the season and first clean sheet. Next up for Greenwich is an away fixture on Tuesday evening away to molesley, in the velocity cup
