Greenwich RFC Minis

Our ‘Pirates’ Minis section is now in its fourth season and offers mixed rugby training to girls and boys from U5 (reception) to U10 (Year 5), and boys rugby for U12 & U13 (years 7 & 8). We train on Sunday mornings between 10.00 and 12.00 on Plumstead Common.

We follow the RFU rules of play which use a ‘building block’ approach to move gradually from simple 4-a-side non-contact games at U6 to the 15-a-side game from U14 onwards. This approach puts the child first, maintains rugby as a game for all shapes & sizes and increases enjoyment & involvement for all. Above all it is FUN!

We also follow RFU safeguarding guidelines; all coaches have dbs checks & receive safeguarding training and we operate under the watchful eye of our safeguarding officer.

Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what makes the game special & it’s these values that underpin the coaching, support & encouragement that we offer at GRFC.

Obviously we love all things rugby, but if you or your child hasn’t played before then you might not be so sure. No problem! Come along and have a go without any obligation – you can have up to 3 training sessions to make up your mind, all free of charge! After that if you’d like to continue, membership is £40 per family for the 2018/19 season, and subs are £3 per week per player. All playing members get snacks at half time and a bite to eat with their team at the end of training. (Membership also gives discounted hall hire).

If you’d like to come along and try it for yourself (or if you have any questions) please contact one of our minis coaches via the 'contacts' tab.

We look forward to welcoming you to Greenwich RFC!
