Sleepy Greetland Wake Up Too Late.

An early kick off caused problems for a sleepy Greetland outfit today. The early sun was shining as they welcomed King Cross Bears in what promised to be a close encounter – the two previous meetings having ended in draws.

The Bears set of ferociously with Greetland struggling to match their speed and organisation and falling behind quickly from a well worked move. Luckily, Lil had her wits about her right from the off – ducking, dodging and diving her way over the line for the first of her amazing five tries.

Relentless waves of attack followed and allowed Harley to show off his rapidly improving defensive work, stopping the bears in their tracks on countless occasions. This allowed Ellis the opportunity to launch an attack and go over in the corner to increase the Allrounders’ tally. Karl, too, was impressing with some jinking runs and smart offloads. The first half, however, belonged to King Cross who held a healthy lead going in to the break.

The second half saw a much improved performance from the Allrounders as Lil showed everyone how to do it by dancing round a confused defence to cross the line. The Allrounders grew in confidence and started to play like we know they can. Will Betts barged over in the corner to get some point on the board and then Joe put out a great pass for Milo to race through and beat five men to score his first try for his team.

In the end they’d left themselves too much to do and couldn’t quite pull things back but they left the pitch having learnt a valuable lesson in how to defend effectively and fought determinedly until the end.
