Tries Galore as Greetland Gain Momentum

After last week’s fantastic performance without reward, Greetland put on another fantastic display this morning to run a well organised, cultured and dogged Hewarth side close to the wire in a thrilling, end to end, try-fest of a game. It was exciting, exhilarating stuff for the full forty minutes, neither side willing to give an inch in defence and showing prowess and skill in attack.

Greetland were quick off the mark, going over quickly with tries from Noah and Maddie but then allowing Hewarth time and space to put in some early tries of their own. Once again, this young, determined and gritty Greetland side dusted themselves down, rolled their sleeves up and started putting in to practice the moves they’ve worked so hard on in training. Karl and Joe turning providers as they bamboozled a dumbfounded defence to set up tries for Harley Maddie and Jack.

Not to be outdone, Noah found space out wide in two quick-fire attacks to earn himself a two more tries with some strong hand offs and fierce running. Hewarth were not going to lie down, though, and their determined forward play was met with a great display of defiance from Will, Maddie and Noah who repeatedly put a stop to their momentum with outstanding defensive work. Joe then nipped over for a quick try before half ime following a neat offload from Noah.

The second half saw a similar pattern. Noah took his tally to five to cap off an outstanding game and Lil’s speed and agility were too much for the opposition. Hewarth responded with a great rally themselves, however and gathered momentum as the game went on, capitalising some Greetland handling errors and proving strong in attack. Ellis’ sprinted down the wing to dive over and give more hope to a tiring Greetland side. With seconds left, however, a tired, crumbling defence didn’t have enough left in the tank to prevent a Hewarth try.

Greetland get better every week and as they learn their new positions ready to the transition to Under 10s next season, you can see the blossoming of a fine team under the masterful stewardship of Coach Seal.
