Grimsby Borough 0-2 Pontefract Collieries.
A tough looking game on paper, but Borough stood up to the challenge against high riding Pontefract, two basic defensive errors after 30 and 40 minutes cost them the points.
Borough took the game to there high riding visitors from the kick off, both teams attacked at will which created a good attacking game for the spectators, but most attacks were stopped on the edge of each penalty area with both keepers hardly troubled.
However om 30 minutes a low cross came in from the right and with all defenders ball watching they forgot about Andy Catton who was stood at the far post for a simple tap in, a similar situation happened 10 minutes later when from a high Catton cross to the far post Craig Rouse had all the time to watch the ball unchallenged and place a looping header over Leigh Cook into the far corner, two terrible mistakes that put Borough on the back foot at half time when they should have been on level terms with the commitment and en devour they had shown in taking the game to the visitors.
The second half was played at a decent pace with both sides looking to attack at every opportunity, some good approach play by Rob Bryant and Lee Wattam, but the finishes didn't match the build up play, time was running out when Rick Creer got on the end of a deep corner only to hit the side netting with the visitors keeper struggling to get across.
Another decent performance by Borough which on another day may have got them some points out of the game.
