MISSED CHANCES COST BOROUGH

Grimsby Borough 3-3 Eccleshill United

On a cold afternoon at Bradley Grimsby Borough looked to end a three match losing streak and victory was denied the hosts by a last gasp equaliser

A scrappy opening saw both sides struggle to set any pattern to their playing styles. With Borough playing into the wind Eccleshill allowed Borough to play the ball and then used the wind to help clear the ball.

After 29 minutes Borough's defence was breeched and United took the lead with a simple finish. This upset Borough and they lost their way that culminated in them going two down on 34 minutes.
Borough changed their formation and just on the stroke of half time a good ball played through to Jamie Coulson saw him beat the keeper in a one on one. The goal lifted boththe team and fans.
With the wind at their backs and bouyed by the gial Borougg started off the second half playing some really good football
and the attacking style payed off on 54 when Coulson added his second and Borough's equaliser. Borough were on top now but United still were causing problems coming forward.
The game was also turning fiesty with the official having to show a number of yellow cards. On 81 minutes following a good attack substitute Renzie Lobendham stayed calm and slotted the ball past the keeper to give Borough the lead.
Borough looked to finish the game and with seconds remaining Coulson struck the bar from close range. Eccleshill thought they had equalised only to be denied by an offside flag. As the ref signalled five extra minutes United broke down the left and the cross saw Drury in the Borough goal only able to punch the ball against the United striker and it came of rheir striker into the net. ,
over the 90 minutes a draw was probably a fair result and Borough had put an end to their losing run and there was enough on show in the second to give the team hope for a victory when they face Dronfield at Bradley on Tuesday.
