                                                                                       12              -             24
After a few last minute drop-outs we went away with 16 players.
Game kicked off at 3pm prompt with Grimsby receiving, Kusane caught the kick and returned it with a run that took Grimsby back over into Scunthorpe territory. Grimsby forwards were quick to rally round in support and recycle the ball a quick sniping run from the base of the ruck from Pharaoh saw Grimsby advance another good few yards, Scunthorpe was caught with hands in the ruck and Dillon found touch to give Grimsby their first line out. Hooker Turquoise was in good form and hit burke off the top to pharaoh who fired the ball out to Dillon, popping an inside ball to Jordan Carr to run in the first try Converted by Ryan Carr.
From the restart Grimsby forwards took the ball straight back into Scunthorpe’s half and camped there. Unfortunately Grimsby scrummaging was letting them down losing the first 4 against the head but excellent defensive tackling from blindside flanker Matthews ensured the opposition did not make gain line yards. One run Scunthorpe did make was soon stopped by a fantastic dump tackle perfectly executed by Vinnie Thornton.
Late in the first half Scunthorpe did manage to break through the up till then impenetrable back line to score but unconverted.
Second half started off in the same vein with Ryan Carr chasing down the kick off and the forwards supporting him. With each line out being won by Chris Burke, Scunthorpe’s only option was to start to interfere with him or pull him down un-noticed by the official .After the pep talk about losing the hit in the scrums Jake Vickers seemed to pick his game up and the first Scrum that went Grimsby’s’ way resulted in Dillon feeding the ball out to Norman who in turn fed Tidswell the ball to score Converted by R Carr. Grimsby were so busy patting themselves on the back they leaked an easy try within less than 5 minutes. After some choice words from the voice of the side line Grimsby got stuck in and 2nd half replacement Jonno Norman ran in the 3rd try converted by R Carr. The game started to deteriorate and contemptuous play started to sneak in from the home side but Grimsby showed excellent discipline and kept their heads, from one such penalty Ryan Carr sealed the win.
All players were superb Matthews and Jordan Carr especially Man of the Match was a hard decision but through sheer fitness Jordan Carr snatched it
