Six goals from Jonjo Doyle and a stunner from Jack Burrows as Albion beat Woodham Victoria 7-0 in Division 3 at West Byfleet Recreation Ground

The league is still super tight and every Sunday from here on in is squeeky bum time. We knew before kick off that if we win our remaining 3 matches, we win the league. However, if we are to slip up at any point then our inferior goal difference will be our downfall. Trailing AFC Egham by 6 goals in the table the aim for today's match was simple...win by at least 7 goals.

The last few weeks have taken their toll on injuries within the squad meaning we took a small but well formed 13 on the short trip to West Byfleet where we found the pitch and conditions perfect for goals goals goals.

Woodham are rooted to the bottom of the table and this was their final league match, they managed to field only 11 players and we had to run their line for them. The biggest test today would probably be for us mentally to give 100% and keep our foot on the gas even when it was clear we should be winning easily today.

We started fantastically as Jonjo Doyle scored after only 6 minutes, latching on to a well timed through ball from Paul Cudmore and making no mistake with the first shot of the game 1-0.

It didn't take long to extend the lead, just a few minutes later some good break up play on the left with Neil Kemp and Lewis Prosser saw Jack Burrows cut inside the Woodham right back and fire past the keeper from 25 yards, an excellent strike 2-0.

By the 20th minute the game was effectively over as a contest with Jonjo Doyle completing his hat-trick, the second goal assisted by Jack Burrows and the third a contentious scramble on the line that a less generous club would have recorded as an own goal 4-0.

Whilst still continuing to create chances for the rest of the half we became a little sloppy, the midfield was being bypassed and we lost our shape a little as Woodham got lazy and we failed to capitalise. We were never troubled by Woodham going forward and the most Doru Marin had to do was collect the ball from the byline.

Half time was quiet, we still knew the target but were perhaps slightly disappointed that we hadn't already achieved it. Rob Gill made way for Leo Anthony in a change of shape going forward, we wanted the game finished ASAP.

It took till the 55th minute for the scoreline to change, John Guest feeding the hungry Jonjo Doyle for his 4th of the match 5-0.

On the hour mark it was 6 as Stuart Wade had time and space playing out from the back and crossed for Jonjo Doyle to head powerfully past the rooted keeper 6-0.

10 minutes later Jonjo Doyle hit his double hat-trick, tucking in at the back post neatly 7-0. The ginger ninja has been in unstoppable form in recent months leaving many wondering what he was doing for the first half of the season and would the league title be wrapped up by now if he was free scoring for the whole season?

With the target achieved we wanted to keep the clean sheet, a moment of madness from Doru Marin picking up a backpass saw him pick up a booking. The resulting free kick from 12 yards was nullified by a host of Albion rump in the wall. The defence were largely untroubled all game and even saw the train leave the station a few times as Michael Jenkins overlapped his winger and Neil Kemp dazzled many with his ball control under pressure.

Today was fun, how can it not be when you win 7-0. There was a host of FACE shouts, kissing, some good mocking of team mates and we all had the morning away from the WAGS on valentines day. Now we move on to the serious business of our remaining very tough league games and a cup quarter final.

Thanks as always to Natalia for the photos x
