An attacking batting display from Guildford sees the U15s chase down a decent target in just the 13th over.

The U15s hosted Liphook at Peper Harow, playing on a greener than usual strip, following the rain of the recent weeks. The greener wicket would prove to provide more even bounce.

Liphook won the toss and elected to bat first.

Kieran Finnegan and Thomas Edwards opened the bowling, from the pavilion end; in a game where all players bowled.

Liphook got off to a steady start, with both openers reaching double figures and one retiring not out.

Max Dyer got the initial breakthrough with a clean bowled wicket, and this was soon followed up by an in swinger from Tristan West taking the stumps.

Poor running decisions &/or good fielding brought the other 4 wickets which fell. Dylan Kirk and Thomas Edwards achieved run outs.

Then two catches from the safe hands of Dulain Jayakody; firstly off the bowling of Kaivalya Kumaar, and then a contender for catch of the season, diving to the ground at gully off the bowling of Dylan Kirk.

Excellent economy from Dylan Kirk, Kaivalya Kumaar, Dulain Jayakody, Kieran Finnegan and Max Dyer who all conceded less than 3 runs per over.

Liphook reached 100 for 6 wickets off their 20 overs, which seemed to be a good score at Peper Harow.

In reply Guildford got off to a positive start with attacking shots from the start from Tristan West and Gian Smith. Unfortunately an ambitious attempted run resulted in a run out; however the positive intent set the tone.

Ultimately all 5 Guildford batsmen who came to the crease reached double figures:
Tristan West – 14 runs (off 10 balls, 2x fours, SR: 140)
Gian Smith – 16 runs (off 18 balls, 2x fours, SR: 89)
Dylan Kirk – 30 retired not out (off 23 balls, 5x fours, SR: 130)
Kieran Finnegan – 16 not out (off 5 balls, 2x fours, 1x six, SR: 320)
Dulain Jayakody – 15 not out (off 6 balls, 3x fours, SR: 250)

A positive batting display meant Guildford raced to 101 for 2 wickets off 12.2 overs.

Man of the match: Dulain Jayakody
