Guildford's U15s Gladiators side maintains its unbeaten run after a close match at Peper Harow.

Having had mixed weather over the recent weeks, the U15s hosted Valley End in their mid-week league at Peper Harow.

Both sides were fielding several U14s, with 8 playing up from Valley End, and 6 doing so for Guildford.

Self isolation, other unavailability and late illness meant Guilford fielded 10 players on the day.

Guildford, captained by Tristan West, won the toss and elected to bat first.

Whilst the wicket in the previous match proved easier to bat on than usual, this time the match was taking place at the other end of the square, with more typical uneven bounce.

It proved tough for the batsmen on both sides, and it would prove to be a lower scoring game.

Only 2 players reached double figures for Guildford. Having been 52 for 5, Satvikya Srivastava batted himself in before playing some shots, and demonstrating excellent aggressive running between the wickets. He top scored with 21 runs (off 34 balls, 1x fours, SR: 62).

Archie Collins also produced a nice cameo innings of 16 runs (off 19 balls, SR: 84).

93 runs for 8 wickets, off 20 overs, felt a bit light - however effective bowling would produce a good game.

In reply, 4x players for Valley End reached double figures, however the run rate was very slow early on, with the openers only scoring at strike rates of 35 and 17 respectively.

Credit to the bowling of Dylan Kirk, Archie Collins, Satvikya Srivastava and Sam Carriett for keeping things tight.

The wicket takers on the day included Tristan West (2), Archie Collins (1), Oliver Horne (1) with Dylan Kirk bagging 3 catches.

Thomas Edwards bowler well, at an economy of just 2 runs per over.

However the pick of the bowlers who had the challenge of bowling the 20th over was Satvikya Srivastava. 9 runs were required by Valley End to win, 8 to tie - however 2 clean bowled top of the off stump wickets limited Valley End to just 7 runs off the final over.

Valley End closed on 92 for 8, off their 20 overs.

A 1 run victory for Guildford who return to Valley End for the return fixture on 9th July.

Man of the match: Satvikya Srivastava
