Camberley vs Guildford

On (finally) a beautiful summers day Guildford were hosted by Camberley in what would turn out to be a very tight contest.

Guildford once again won the toss and opted to bowl first on a good wicket with a fast outfield. Alex Bhatt and Spike Vincent opened the bowling against probably the smallest opening pair we've faced this season but who were no slouches with the bat putting on 30 for the first wicket. Guildford were bowling well before Camberley's Surrey player came in and hit a 6 off the first ball that he faced (after scoring ducks in his previous 2 league matches). Runs began to come but the bowlers continued to bowl well with the fielders again backing them up with 3 run outs effected and Tom Farley taking a diving catch. Alex Jourdan clean bowled 2 batsmen, Ayaan Bhagat bowled excellently for his 1 - 15 off 3 overs with Noah Dyer taking the 4th wicket to fall to a bowler returning 1 for 10 off his 3 overs plus great work also by Max Champion behind the stumps under the lid for 20 baking hot overs!

With a changed batting line up Miles Abdeen put his hand up to open the batting and played a great innings top scoring with 22 off 29 balls including an attempted reverse sweep!! With wickets falling Thomas Johnson came in and scored an excellent 21 off 16 balls with 4 4's but more importantly put pressure back on the fielding team with his ability to nick singles and pressure the fielder. Alex Bhatt was promoted up the order and hit a fine 13 including 3 4's before Ayaan and Max Robson (on his league debut) saw Guildford home for victory in the 20th over with 3 balls to spare as tensions began to rise.

It was great to see so many excellent performances from different players which shows the strength in the squad but losing 7 wickets all being clean bowled is something to be worked on in the net.
