Guilsfield 1 Penrhyncoch 1
Guilsfield couldn't manage to hold on to a 1-0 lead after a goal-less first half, in a match played in tricky conditions, with a strong wind and a surface which eventually got tackier when the rain came down.
Mike Jones in the Guilsfield goal was kept busy in the first period with a couple of impressive stops after the home side had started brightly enough, with Edwards, Jenkins and Cook keeping the Roosters rearguard on their toes. Penrhyncoch 'keeper Leigh Jenkins was forced off at the break with a re-occurrence of a leg injury. Cledan Davies donned the gloves for the second half.
The makeshift keeper had a "worldy" in the second period with a series of stunning stops but he was unable to keep out Adam Jenkins 54th min penalty which gave the home side the lead. Penrhyncoch also lost striker Carl Lamb to a very nasty elbow injury, after he had been accidentally kicked by a team-mate. The away side were always in the game with such a slender scoreline and 10 mins from time came the equaliser from Jon Evans' free kick. The visitors could have knicked all three points in the final minute with a shot which struck the foot of the post and the resulting rebound strike grazed the crossbar to spare Guils' blushes.
Guilsfield lack a cutting edge in the final third, with the attackers seemingly staying clear of the penalty box. Lots of build up play but little end product.
Team: Jones, Bromley, Parry, Rogers, Litchfield, James, Cook, Ford, Edwards, Cathrall, Jenkins. Subs: Clifton(Edwards), Richards (Bromley), Lloyd (Rogers).
Meanwhile, the Reserves marched on with a 3-2 win at Trewern. The Guils were 1-0 down at the break but stormed back in the second half to maintain a 100% winning record in the league. Paul Evans, Danny Barton and Harry Clifton got on the score sheet to keep us at the top of the table.
