Porthmadog 0 Guilsfield 2

Guilsfield made it a hat-trick of victories in a week to jump to sixth spot in the league, with this resilient performance at Y Traeth.

The Guils went into the match without Callum Bromley and Adam Jenkins (suspended), Robbie James and Steve Blenkinsop (injured), and Jack Richards and Stuart Rogers (unavailable). Into the squad stepped Harry Clifton, Luke Francis,John Lloyd, Steve Tomkins and Jacob Lloyd.
The side itself contained a mixture of teenagers, Reserve lads and the club talisman Danny Barton, alongside the core of the side in Sam Litchfield, Andy Ford and Chris Cathrall.
Guilsfield arrived late and were expecting an early onslaught from top three side Porthmadog, who were keen to give Manger Craig Papyrnik the best possible send off on his last game at the club. However, Port made a subdues start, which lasted throughout the first half, and this handed the initiative to the away side. As early as the 7th minute, Guilsfield took the lead with Luke Francis neatly finishing Danny's layoff. Guilsfield had three other sharp strikes on goal before Jake Cook broke clear from the halfway line and unselfishly squared the ball to "you-know-who" (Danny) to slot home on 43 mins.
Port showed much more intent in the second half but the lads battled together, and with Mike having another strong game between the posts, the home side were kept at bay. Danny could have made it three with a volley from Jake's cross but Paul Pritchard made a great stop. The Guilsfield core of Cathrall, Litchfield and Ford closed down the Port threats in the second half and their performances were matched by the rest of lads who battled to the end.
Guilsfield kept another satisfying clean sheet to go along with one of our best performances of the season.

Team: Jones, Cathrall, Parry, Ford, Litchfield, H. Clifton, Francis, G. Clifton, Barton, Cook, A. Lloyd. Subs: John Lloyd (Francis), Jacob Lloyd, Tomkins.

On to Tuesday evening now, with the Reserves hosting Llanfair United Reserves, hoping to go a step closer to winning the title.
Saturday sees relegation haunted Holywell Town travelling to Mid-Wales in our last game of the season.
