50 not out!!!
Who would have thought at the start of Durham and Northumberland 1 2014/15 season that golden balls would be lining up for his 50th Cap for Bath Rugby Club. Some doubted he would be able to take over Clarky reigns let alone lace his boots. How wrong they were!
Many clubs at our level produce players who move on to play at the top level through the academy route but it is hard to find a player who has played for over three seasons at Level 6 and 7 move on to the Premiership, and with such ease.
It has been a dramatic rise to the Gallagher Premiership for the fourth best Muir, who navigated the university 7’s programme before finding himself in the 2018 World Cup Sevens squad. His move to Bath in February 2021 has seen a strange change in the average accent at the Rec since his debut against Harlequins and rumour has it that Col Stockdale has bought a holiday home by the River Avon due to his regular frequenting of the Rec.
Back at Belmangate, Guisborough regularly use Bath tops rather than bibs to differentiate between two sides in training and Tony Conway is deep into negotiations with Macca Jr about introducing an alternative ‘Blue, Black and White’ strip.
We thought it was apt to include a photo of Will playing against this weekend’s opposition South Shields Westoe. Will was on the losing end of the result that weekend back in 2016 but no doubt the star of the show.
The club is immensely proud of all it’s alumni but this weekend is extra special. Good luck to William in what should be an amazing moment for his family and here is to another 50.
