Guiseley Rangers are a community-based amateur rugby league club and registered charity in north-west Leeds who have successfully secured £75,000 of National Lottery money to build new pitch-side changing rooms.

A few weeks ago, the 1st foundation stone was recently laid by Chairman Dave Clayton and Club Development Officer Helen Schofield under the watchful eye of local builder Dave Brosnan of ELB Building Repairs.

Guiseley Rangers were keen to use local companies to supply materials and were amazed by the generosity of local concrete company Breedon who have a plant just 1 mile away on Milners Road, Yeadon. Breedon are keen to forge links with the local community and Guiseley Rangers were the perfect match!

With new changing rooms, Guiseley Rangers are focusing on increasing the participation in the sport and are keen to introduce more players of all ages to the club.
Soon Rugby AM will be creating another of their successful Rugby Tots Academy based at Guiseley Rangers, introducing rugby league in a fun way to children from the age of 3 years old.

Leeds Rhinos Foundations recently ran a Sky Try program on the Clubs behalf aimed at 6 to 8 year olds in local schools and the Taster session with Ronnie Rhino attracted over 40 children.

Re-creating a Senior team to play in the Men’s Summer League and a Master RL team for the over 35s are 2 more of the club’s ambitions. Anyone interested should either contact the Club or attend a meeting on Tuesday 28th February 7.30pm at The Yorkshire Rose Pub, Guiseley

Club Development Officer, Helen Schofield has met with members of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation team to discuss plans to increase the involvement with local businesses, schools and pubs to generally increase the awareness of the club. Helen says, “we are not asking local businesses for Sponsorship money, although we wouldn’t turn the money away!! We are wanting to introduce Guiseley Rangers to their employees, of all ages, and their children and hope that many of them will come and give rugby league a Try!”

Guiseley Rangers have started junior pre-season training and are wanting to recruit more players and coaches NOW! If you would like more information, please contact Helen Schofield 07946 607223 email helen.rugby@sky.com.
