On a cold and wet November afternoon there was a lot at stake for both clubs as they faced off in the Welsh Trophy round 4 fixture. Trearddur had a glorious chance to open the scoring as early as the first minute when Ian Williams was played in but his rising shot just cleared the cross bar.

At the opposite end returning captain Richard Williams got caught trying to turn his man and only a one handed save from Bry Roberts kept the teams level. Bry Roberts was called into action minutes later when a good Gwalchmai move down the right ended with a shot being pushed around the post by the visiting keeper.

It was end to end and this time it was the woodwork who saved Gwalchmai as Bryn Roberts beat three players only to see his shot rebound off the upright.

The same player forced stand in keeper Gerallt Jones to be at his best when Bryns free kick from the edge of the area looked goal bound only for Jones at full stretch get fingers to push it wide.

It was Trearddur now asking all the questions and some how Gwalchmais determined defending kept a series of shots from crossing the line.

The deadlock was finally broken when Bry Roberts quick throw found Shaun Jenkins who played the ball down the left to Craig Moore, Moore beat his marker and squared across goal to Bryn Roberts who then cut the ball back to the advancing Shaun Jenkins to finish neatly into the bottom corner.

Both sides enjoyed some good passage of play creating half chances but the score remaind until half time.

It was Gwalchmai who started the second period the brightest pegging Bay back into there own half. After some good interplay the ball was worked wide to Gethin Davies on the left whos shot was half smootherd by Bry Roberts but crept over the line.

The game now swung end to end as both sides went in search of a match winner. In probably the best move of the day Trearddur broke from the back and after an interchange of 8 passes Myles Jones shot come cross eluded Gerallt Jones and hit the top corner.

Gwalchmais problems got worse minutes later when Jon Williams received a straight red. Trearddur now sensing victory went searching for the killer goal. Craig Moore beat his cover defender down the right and delivers a perfect ball across goal but Ian Williams blasts over. Dan McGuinness then sends in a perfectly flighted ball but Williams just cant keep his header down low enough to kill the game.

Gwalchmai now push forward with the minutes counting down and are rewarded with a corner that is well taken and with the unmarked Alan Roberts heading home from close range the tie was all destined for another 30min.

Immediately from the retake the ball is played long and wide to Myles Jones who ghosted past the right back has time to look up to see the advancing keeper and coolly slots home his second of the afternoon and surely this time the match winner.
3-2 Trearddur Bay (Myles Jones 90 + 2)

In a last ditch effort Gwalchmai pushed hard to find the leveler but Trearddur had no intentions of letting the lead slip again and ran out 3-2 winners and into Monday nights draw for round 5.
