Gwalchmai 2-0 Pwllheli

Despite the torrential rain this week the committee worked wonders to get the game on and to be fair the pitch was in an excellent condition.

We started against the wind first half, the visitors looked to capitalise on this we a flurry of shots from distance to no avail. In fact the wind didn't effect first half proceedings too much. We defended well with two lines with debutant Lee Jones martialing his defence and Paul Bryant doing similarly in the middle.

The visitors enjoyed a lot of possession, however failed to penetrate us. In fact it was Gwalchmai that created the chances. On 30 mins Jon Williams cut infield from the left playing in Allman who beat the trap to fire passed the keeper only to be denied by the upright. Moments later Jon again went on a mazing run infield only to fire just over. Our creation of oppurtunities continued as Kieran Lewis shot well from 20 yards following some good intricate play. As the half closes some great work by Bennett down the right found Scruff who missed narrowly at the near post.

HT 0-0

At half time we were upbeat and confident we could continue to create chances. We were proved right within 10 minutes of the restart. Gerry deputising in goal for the suspended Wally launched the ball, Allman beat his man to flick on, Mark Griffiths pounced and homed in on goal to slot home calmly passed the on rushing keeper, 1-0.

For the next 10 minutes we went into a panic, a few dubious decisions went against us and we had to weather the storm. During this period the visitors enjoyed a lot of the ball looking for their nippy attackers. Despite their possession they yet again failed to create any clear cut chances.

Having weathered the storm we soon took control again. Allman should have scored from 12 yards only to lack composure, Kieran moments later did likewise. Allman again went close, so did Griffiths. Eventually we got our just reward as Lee Jones cleared to the right channel, Griffiths beat the offside trap to yet again home in on goal, this time riffling passed the keeper into the roof of the net 2-0.

In the closing stages Bennett went close following some determined play down the right. This didn't matter as We took all three points and earned a welcomed clean sheet thanks to a great point blank save at the death from Gerallt Jones.

Today we worked well as a team and played some good stuff putting to bed last weeks blip. The defence were tight, the midfield energetic and Scruff worked tirelessly up top. Three games unbeaten in the league now, long may it continue.
