
The 2026 season is well under way, and the mens' First XI have started in style with two wins in their first two games. They carried on from last week win at Stockport CC with another comfortable win this time at home to Winnington Park CC. Batting first Barns set 275 thanks for runs from Sam Smith (79*), Mat Spells marking his home debut with a solid 58, Brad Edge (38) & Alex Read (36*). They then turned it on with the ball having Winnington Park 66-6. After some lower order resistance eventually bowling them out for 168 with Australian all-rounder Connar Robson (pictured) taking three wickets on his debut at Brooks Drive. The Barns went on to win by comfortable 107 runs.
The 2XI started their season away at Tattenhall CC and got over the line in a thriller. Batting first runs from Sanjeev (81) and Charles Mills (65) helped set 210. Tattenhall were cruising to the total sitting pretty at 189-2 needed just 22 from the last 6 overs to win. A special second spell from teenager Atrik Roy of 3 overs, 3 runs, 3 wickets changed the game. Rob Kelk held his nerve bowling the final over and the 2nd XI took maximum points by just 5 runs.
The boys u13s Green team opened their season with a great win away at local rivals Timperley CC and the boys u11s Greens put up a spirited performance in a narrow loss to Brooklands CC.
The ladies softball team marked their debut outdoor league campaign with a loss away at Ashley CC, but enthuisam for the summer ahead remains turned up to 11!
